What We Will Be Learning This Week 9-12-16

We are learning about …


*Language Arts: We will start a new unit this week. The theme is, My Family and Me. We will be reading about animal families and people families. We will be reading Whose Baby Am I? Our comprehension strategy and skills will be to recognize text structure and make predictions. For phonemic awareness and phonics we will be focusing on the letter and sound of M.

*Writing- We will learn to write the letter M correctly, draw and label pictures and use sentence frames to write a complete sentence.

* Math- Numbers to 10, word problems, and pattern review
Science: Animal families.
Religion: Names Are Good
** Each week your child will need to memorize a bible verse. This week please have your child practice the following bible verse:
At the name of Jesus every knee should bend.

What We Are Learning This Week 8-22-16

We are learning about …

*Language Arts: We will be doing our Smart Start unit in reading. This is a review unit and we will be spending time reviewing the alphabet.

*Writing- Writing your name with an upper case letter at the beginning and the rest lower case.

 

* Math- Recognize qualities of basic shapes- circle, square, triangle, rectangle and oval and numbers to 10.

*Science- Identifying and comparing physical properties of objects- basic colors and shapes.

Social Studies- Understanding that good citizenship includes following rules, sharing with others, waiting your turn, listening when others speak and showing kindness and respect.

Religion: Understanding God loves us, singing and learn different prayers.

This week Oct. 26

We are learning about …
*Language Arts: We are starting unit 3. The theme for this unit is Transportation. In phonemic awareness we will be learning phoneme isolation, phoneme blending and categorization with the letter t. In Phonics we will be reviewing t and it’s sound. Our High-Frequency word is see, and we will continue to review our past words. Our vocabulary words are continue, glide, rapidly, transportation, and vehicle. Our comprehension skill is recognizing story structure and making and confirming predictions. The fluency skill is word automaticity, echo reading and read for fluency. We will continue to work on our oral grammar learning and identifying nouns and introduce verbs. In writing we will work on sentence frame.

Math- Identify and writing numbers.
Science: We will learn about the life cycle of a pumpkin.
Social Studies: transportation

Religion: Families are Good!
Scripture verse:Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be they name.
