Welcome to Third Grade!
Here is the homework for the week:
-Edpuzzle: assignments are posted and ready.
-IXL: 3rd grade language arts-B.1, B.2, and B.3. Your child has another opportunity to work on these skills and master them. If your child has already mastered these skills then you are all set :)
-Bookopolis: please read for at least 20 minutes daily and log your minutes. The more you explore the site and take advantage of different aspects of it, the more points your child will receive.
-Spelling: TBD. We finished our diagnostic assessments and are now awaiting the materials they'll be using in class and for homework.
*As always, please let me know if you have any questions or are experiencing issues with the sites*
Just a friendly reminder that a $1 charge will be applied to any tardy after the third tardy. Let me know if you have any questions about this new policy. Thank you!
Good evening! I hope everyone had a great weekend. Here is the upcoming week's homework:
-Edpuzzle: we will be using this site for math homework. They will have a daily video to watch with embedded questions to answer.
-Bookopolis: students will use this site as their reading log (20 min daily). Encourage your child to write a review for any book they finish in order to help with their "response to text" writing skills.
- IXL: students will use this site for their language arts homework. They'll be completeing the math portion of IXL in class as part of their centers. The homework this week is to complete 3rd grade levels: B.1, B.2, B.3.
*Edpuzzle has due dates attached to them as you'll see when you log in. Bookopolis should be done daily. Lastly, IXL can be completed any time during the week as long as it's done by Friday.*
Let me know if you have any questions.
Tonight's homework will be to log into Bookopolis for the first time and log in your 20 minutes of reading. You'll be using this site as your reading log.
1. Go to https://www.bookopolis.com/#/
2. Click on the "log in" tab and select student
3. Type in your username and password
Your username is your child's first and last name, no capitals or spaces.
Your password is your child's name. Some names were too short to be used as passwords so i'll send you your child's password if your child's name is 6 letters or less.
4.Click on the reading log tab at the top of the page. If you can't find it, make sure you are in the "student's world" part of the site.
5. Add an entry of your 20 minutes of reading today.
6. Feel free to customize and explore.
*Let me know if you have any questions*
Sorry to send this email so late, we just got out of our meeting. Please have your child log into IXL, click on the "Diagnostic" tab at the top of the page, and have them complete the diagnostic assessment to the best of their ability. It'll show me any gaps in knowledge from previous years. Thank you!
Also, the P.E schedule has been changed to Fridays.
I sent home the "Get to know me" assignment that'll be due on Friday. Also, I'm sending you the link to tonight's homework assignment on Edpuzzle. We'll be using this site as homework often so we're practicing how to access it and use it this week.
1. https://edpuzzle.com/ Go to this site.
2. Click on I'm a new student.
3. Fill out your child's first and last name along with a username and password they can remember.
4. Click on Join Class.
5. Enter this code: dutigne
6. Click Join
7. Complete the video assignment.
*I would like for them to complete the assignment on their own but they can ask for technical help if they need it.
*Let me know if you have any questions.
I hope all of you have a restful weekend. I said earlier that I would send home a fun "get to know you" activity today to be done over the weekend. However, I decided to postpone it for Monday instead. I want everyone to rest after the excitement of the first week of school. I sent home a Growth Mindset worksheet today. We talked a little bit about what it means while reading the book, "The Dot". There is a parent side and a kid's side. I hope to see many of you this Sunday for our Mass and BBQ at 10:30 am.
9:30 Leave School
11:00-12:00 Wagon ride and berry picking
12:30-1:30 Animal petting
1:30-2:30 Final activity
2:30 Head back to school
*We should be back by 3:30 pm*
Language Arts: daily spelling activity, daily reading (20 min), IXL: JJ.1
Math: Splash Math or IXL: U.1, U.12
